The MECH V-RING is anexclusive complete rubber seal for rotary shaft sealing applications. V-Ring is the most suitable solution to avoid ingress dirt, dust, water, or combinations of these media while ultimately holding grease. With its inimitable design and performance, the V-Ring guards a wide range of bearing types. It is often operated as anadditional seal to protect main seals that struggle to restrict medium well in aggressive environments. It has been applied effectively by original equipment manufacturers and the auxiliary market worldwide in several applications.

It is essential to consider the following criterion while selecting the base rubber compound.
Pressure Range: up to .5 Bar - 74 psi
Temperature: -40 to +200ºC (-40 to +392ºF)
Velocity: 30 m/s (100 ft/s)
V-Ring is fitted directly on the shaft, which is positioned by the intrinsic tension of the elastic body. It rotates along with the shaft and seals axially against a stationary counter face at right angles to the shaft. The counter face can be the end face of a bearing or a washer, stamping, bearing housing, or even the metal case of oil seals. The sealing lip is elastic and applies only a relatively negligible contact pressure against the counter-face, yet it is still enough to maintain the sealing. Seals often run dry in many applications due to low contact pressure.
With the increased speed & centrifugal force, the contact pressure of the lip decreases. This process keeps frictional losses and heat minimum, producing excellent wear characteristics and prolonged seal life. Once breakaway torque is overcome, the power losses reduce steadily until around the 10 -15 m/s band,which reduces quite quickly. In the 15 – 20 m/s band, the losses reduce to zero, and the V-Ring then serves as a clearance seal and deflector.
The elastic lip and pivot allow the V-Ring to perform even in some run-out, eccentricity, and shaft misalignment. Please reach out to us for advice on these and other application issues.
It is made entirely of rubber without fabric or sheet metal reinforcement. They are, therefore, straightforward to install. Depending on size, V-Rings can be stretched and installed over flanges, pulleys, and bearing housings without expensive dismantling.
